A black Labrador dog sitting on a golf course holding a putter in its mouth near a bucket of golf balls.

The central focus of this artwork is a soulful-looking black Labrador sitting patiently in the middle of a manicured golf course. The dog holds the shaft of a putter horizontally in its mouth, looking directly forward with its amber-coloured eyes. In front of the dog, a wire-mesh bucket is tipped over, spilling a generous collection of white golf balls across the green grass. A second golf club rests diagonally across the foreground, leaning near the basket, while a single wooden tee stands upright nearby on the left.

Behind the subject, the background features a classic links-style golf course layout. There are rolling green hills, patches of golden-brown tall grass, and sand bunkers tucked away in the middle distance. The horizon is filled with soft, hazy purple mountains under a clear, pale blue sky, suggesting a calm, sunny day. The composition is balanced and pastoral, capturing a quiet, whimsical moment of a pet interacting with sports equipment.

The style is a detailed, realistic painting with warm, earthy tones dominating the palette. The deep, glossy black coat of the Labrador contrasts sharply with the vibrant greens of the grass and the warm tans of the sand and dried brush. Soft natural light illuminates the scene, casting gentle shadows that provide depth and texture to the dog's fur and the surrounding landscape. The overall mood is peaceful, charming, and nostalgic.

A portrait of a friendly black Labrador retriever sitting centrally on a golf course. The dog holds a golf club horizontally in its mouth, looking forward with gentle, amber-coloured eyes. To the right of the dog sits a metal wire basket overflowing with a collection of white golf balls, with several more scattered across the grass in the foreground. A second golf club rests diagonally across the scene, its head angled near the bottom left corner and its shaft extending upwards toward the right.

The scene is set on a lush, rolling links-style golf course, characterized by patches of golden-brown tall grass, sand bunkers, and gentle green mounds in the distance. A low stone wall runs horizontally behind the dog, separating the foreground activity from the rolling fairways beyond. The background features a soft, hazy horizon under a pale, overcast sky, creating a tranquil atmosphere typical of an early morning or late afternoon round.

The image is rendered in a realistic, painterly style with warm, earthy tones dominating the landscape. The contrast between the dark, sleek fur of the Labrador and the bright white of the golf balls creates a clear focal point. The soft lighting casts long, gentle shadows across the grass, emphasizing the texture of the field and the depth of the composition. The signature of the artist is visible in the bottom right corner.

My first foray into the Ravensburger 'Frame It!' series came to me new and sealed, but had obviously been dropped at some point so I was not surprised to find some of the pieces had slight bends or edge damage. What was a little more disappointing was the roughness on the back side of the puzzle that added interference to the fit, and caused quite a noticeable amount of uneveness in the flatness of the finished puzzle. Overall, a fun puzzle, but if framing, someΒ  mounting pressure and matting on the back to encourage a flat presentation may be desired.
