A collage of North American wildlife, including a grizzly bear, moose, and mountain lion, set against a forest landscape.

This vibrant wildlife collage depicts a variety of North American animals layered within a dense, autumnal forest setting. A large grizzly bear dominates the left side, while an imposing moose stands to the upper right. Below them, a mountain lion is positioned centrally, accompanied by smaller creatures including a fox kit, a white arctic fox, a lynx, and otters. A puffin and a loon are situated near the foreground water, while geese fly against the backdrop of distant, snow-capped mountains and a pine forest.

The composition is highly stylized, featuring a dense, overlapping arrangement of animals that creates a busy, thematic montage. A small Canadian flag is subtly tucked among the wildlife, and a few scattered maple leaves in deep red and bright orange add autumnal accents throughout the frame. The background transitions from the cool, dark blues of the evergreen forest and high peaks to the warm, glowing oranges of fall foliage.

The illustration uses a rich, saturated colour palette that emphasizes the contrast between the dark, shadowy forest and the vibrant, glowing animal coats. The lighting is soft and even, highlighting the detailed features of each animal’s face and fur. The overall aesthetic is illustrative and painterly, blending realistic animal portraits with a dreamlike, layered layout that evokes a sense of wild, natural splendor.

This vibrant illustration features a dense collage of iconic North American wildlife set against a backdrop of a Canadian wilderness. A large grizzly bear stands prominently on the left, while a majestic moose with expansive antlers dominates the upper right. Centered in the foreground is a cougar resting near a log, accompanied by a small fox perched nearby. Other animals included are a lynx, a white fox, an otter, a groundhog, a puffin, and Canada geese in flight. The composition is filled with elements of nature, including rushing waterfalls, jagged blue-tinted mountain peaks, and deep evergreen forests.

The artwork is infused with a rich, autumnal colour palette, dominated by deep oranges, browns, and vibrant reds of falling maple leaves that are scattered throughout the scene. The forest is rendered in layers of cool blues and greens, providing a sharp contrast to the warm-toned animals. Interspersed among the wildlife are subtle, stylized geometric patterns that add a decorative, folk-art quality to the composition.

The illustration has a painterly and highly detailed style, emphasizing the textures of fur, feathers, and rushing water. The scene is bright and lively, evoking a sense of harmony between the diverse creatures of the wild. The overall mood is whimsical and celebratory of the natural environment, utilizing a high-contrast blend of warm foreground subjects and a cooler, atmospheric background.

We really enjoy doing the Canadian Collection of puzzles from Ravensburger and this one was no exception - loved it from the moment I saw it. The one thing that would have made it even more Canadian was to have a polar bear included. We do have a puffin as well as moose, grizzly bear, Canada geese, arctic fox, red fox, otters, beaver, lynx, cougar, mallard duck and what I believe is a pine marten but could be wrong (bottom left beside the beaver). The puzzle itself was a bit on the challenging side, mainly due to all the similar colours of the animals. Pulled out and did all the maple leaves first and the other bits of red then just went from there.
